The development of the 3D printing industry is cultivating 3D printing professionals. There is currently a huge talent gap in the whole industry while the current job market lacks strong talent support. Universities have introduced 3D printing technology to establish specialized laboratories which strengthen students’overall grasp of art and design majors. By doing it consolidates students’ application capabilities in 3D design software as well as enhances their understanding and operation abilities of 3D printers. It aims at fostering creative versatile talents with practical skills toward society thus further expanding employment prospects for these students.
A Typical example is provided by a certain art college’s 3D Printing Lab that highlights collaboration between “industry-university-research”. This will involve deep cooperation with enterprises to jointly built 3D printing labs accomplishing complementary use of professional talent resources with business equipment technical resources sharing on resource basis through integrating students’ creative thinking into technical practice of companies During one conversation I had on art academy, I was told about a government cultural and creative project regarding 3D printing for which they are preparing across provinces. Given the large size of the project, various factors such as printed products’ surface effect, comprehensive mechanical performance, weather resistance, production cycle and cost of production were considered by art academy responsible team in regard to dozens of 3D printing process equipment currently found in the laboratory. Eventually, it was generally agreed that TPM3D S260 printing system would be adopted for the production.
Currently, in teaching the majors of arts and design in universities, the application of 3D printing has played a significant role in school instruction, student learning, student employment, school research and enterprise development. If one is interested she or he can contact TPME3D for promoting “industry-university-research” healthy development within art and design sector.
